Please join us in finding a cure for diabetes. There are numerous ways to become involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation:

Participate in one of our annual events

Join JDRF at one of our annual signature events: JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes; Promise Ball Gala; Diabetes Today and Tomorrow Conference.

Kids for a Cure

Kids for a Cure is a community service, team-based youth fundraising program that raises funds for JDRF and awareness of type 1 diabetes. Schools, clubs, sports teams and other youth organizations hosting the Kids for a Cure community service program can have satisfaction that their efforts are improving the lives of children and adults worldwide by supporting JDRF research and service programs.  Participating groups and schools can earn exciting incentives, including a personalized banner.  Click here to request information on conducting a Kids for a Cure community service campaign in your local school or youth organization.

Run, Walk, Cycle or Tri

Have the experience of a lifetime while making a difference in the lives of children and adults with diabetes by participating in a Team JDRF Challenge event or the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes.
Thousands of JDRF supporters across Michigan walk, run or cycle for recreation and fitness.  Why not turn that activity into a personal improvement goal and a fundraising opportunity for JDRF?
Regardless of age or physical condition, anyone can prepare for an endurance event with a 16 to 20 week training program.  Most endurance events are walk-friendly so you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to participate (remember – it’s not a competition; it’s an accomplishment).
Pick an event of your choice (5K, Full or ½ Marathon, Triathlon, or Cycle event), sign up with the event organizer and then create your personal fundraising page on Team JDRF.  It’s that easy.
Contact Lauren Savage at 248 936-1290 or email for more information.  Click here to see a list of events (or to list the event in which you will participate.)

Adults and students can volunteer at our chapter office during regular business hours or at a specific event throughout the year. To download a volunteer interest form, please click here.

Host a Fundraiser to Benefit JDRF

Each year, schools, companies, civic groups and individuals host events to benefit JDRF. If you are interested in organizing an event to raise funds for diabetes research, contact us at

Make a Tribute, Memorial or General Donation Gift

Tax-deductible tribute and memorial gifts are a meaningful way for individuals or groups to honor the memory of loved ones and friends or acknowledge a special occasion. Donations can be made online by clicking here.

Support JDRF Through Workplace Giving

JDRF welcomes gifts through workplace giving campaigns, including the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), employee matching gift programs, and other special fundraising drives. In Michigan, you may also support JDRF through payroll deduction through Community Health Charities of Michigan (CHCM). For more information on supporting JDRF through CHCM please visit

Planned Giving

Legacy gifts provide financial resources to ensure that diabetes research continues until a cure is found.

Take Legislative Action

Advocate for increased research funding! JDRF works with a nation-wide network of advocates who make their voices heard when it comes to key legislative issues. To receive the tools you need to help make yourself and JDRF heard, take legislative action.  Go to this JDRF web page to become a grassroots advocate today -

Nominate Your Child to Serve on JDRF’s Children’s Congress

JDRF’s national Children’s Congress helps children meet their local representatives and teaches them that their voice really does make a difference. Bi-annually, children with diabetes from every state are selected to travel to Washington, D.C. to advocate for a cure for diabetes.

Ask Congress to "Promise to Remember" Those Affected By Diabetes

Held in even-numbered years, the Promise Campaign is a coordinated effort by JDRF advocates to schedule and complete as many meetings as possible with their U.S. Representatives and Senators. Meetings are held at the Representatives’ or Senators’ local district offices, making it easier for more advocates to speak face-to-face with their Members of Congress.
